• Birth of the Pause Couleur project

    Hello there, fellow coloring fan!

For this very first entry in my logbook, I wanted to tell you all about how project Pause Couleur came to life!

I’ve been coloring (in all its shapes and forms) for many, many years now. Way back in the early 2000s, I was already digitally coloring lineart made by other artists. Then I moved on to alcohol markers, and around 2015, I discovered adult coloring books (options were pretty limited back then). Quickly enough, I wanted to try colored pencils, watercolor… In short, you could say my passion goes way back!

Throughout all these years, I’ve used so many different methods to track my coloring pages, pick my colors, note down my gradients… I’ve been through multiple notebooks, signed up for apps and websites, I have the Color Cube, I use Pinterest, I have binders full of combos, and so many other things I’m probably forgetting. 😄

But lately, I was getting tired of having to take everything out, needing a computer nearby for certain websites, remembering to log my progress in one notebook and my combos in another, keeping a scrap piece of paper with my coloring page to note down the colors… I could go on like this for a long time, but I think you get exactly what I mean! 😉 I wanted to have everything easily at my fingertips, even when I’m away from home, even without an internet connection… In short, something easy that actually helps me.

That’s when I came up with the idea for Pause Couleur! I almost always have my phone with me, even offline, and I have the skills (given my studies and career path) to build the perfect coloring companion, an app that would check absolutely every single box of my dream app. So, why deprive myself?

At first, I wanted to build the app just for myself, but then I thought it could be useful to so many other colorists that it would be a shame not to share it. Then, I wanted to share this journey with the coloring community, which led to a lot of prep work so I could properly share my progress.

Alongside all this prep work, I wrote down everything my dream app should include in a notebook (yes, another one, but I need to keep everything well-structured so I don’t mess up). Obviously, I’m counting on all of you to give me suggestions, because I’m sure I haven’t thought of everything.

And there you have it, now you know everything about how this project was born! If you want to be a part of it, you can follow me on social media and on Discord, where I share my progress. Discord is also where you can make suggestions, give your feedback on the features I’m currently creating, test the app, etc., etc.! In short, that’s where you’ll find out everything and be able to chat with me. 😊 I can’t wait to see you there!

See you very soon for the next steps of the project 🌸
